This is a pretty good position for Dubya style consensus building, but as a critical stance it sucks balls. "Taste" is an expressed dis/like with no articulated reasoning behind it. Since nobody bothers to dig around its roots, there's no ground for meaningful discussion. Even though I don't necessarily agree with Andrei's statement that Aphex and Autechre are the only AI-type IDMers that matter, I at least appreciate the sentiment. Even if you don't like all of their newer stuff, at least it's not a superficial imitation of someone else (I'm still trying to figure out why anybody bothers with Vladislav Delay and Aphelion). They're enriching a personal style from a diverse set of influences and you can hear & appreciate it in their output. -rob --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
